Press brakes are used for the bending sheets of metal. On the one hand these presses are used in in heavy industry such as steel mills but on the other hand it may be used also in light industry such as aviation, engineering industry, various industries and production of different kinds of staff which use sheet material. There are different types of press brakes, for example, the mechanical press brakes, the hydraulic press brakes and the servo press brakes. Nowadays, there are a desirable press brakes with CNC control, which simplifies and speeds up all the bending operations.

In this article I would like to compare two hydraulic press brakes – AMADA HFB 100/3 and CINCINNATI 230 CB, tell you about their various features and main technical parameters. AMADA and CINCINNATI are professional producers of different types of all kinds of machines not only press brakes. But today we will talking about presses. Both presses were manufactured not so long ago, AMADA in 1998 and CINCINNATI in 2001, that is why they are in fairly good condition. The biggest and the main difference between machines is the bending force: AMADA has the force 110 ton, while CINCINNATI has twice more – 230 ton. Another important parameter, maximum bending length, is almost similar, AMADA has 122 inches and CINCINNATI – 120 inches. In regard to approach, bending and return speed, there we may notice big otherness, from 0.666667 in/s, 0.383333 in/s and 3.1 in/s according in AMADA, to 2,6 in/s, 0,58 in/s and 2,9 in/s according in CINCINNATI. Both presses are quite heavy but the machine with model 230 CB is twice heavy then machine with model HFB 100/3, the first one has weight 13,4 ton and the second one – 6,7 ton. As you can see, on the one hand these machines has some similarities but on the other hand they also has a lot of otherness and one more very important thing, for my mind, is the fact that AMADA in contradistinction to CINCINNATI has a CNC control with 8 controlled axes.

To conclude all this information, my total opinion is that both hydraulic press brakes, AMADA HFB 100/3 and CINCINNATI 230 CB, are quite good machines. And we can not say that first is better than second and vice versa. If you need the heavier press with larger bending force and speed then CINCINNATI 230 CB is right decision for you to buy it but if you prefer CNC control to these technical parameters – your choice is AMADA HFB 100/3 .
